Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesives
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ structural adhesives are the industry standard for high-strength bonding of metals, composites, and plastics in aerospace assembly and repair. Epoxy, urethane, and acrylic chemistries cover every combination of substrate, temperature requirement, and work-life need — from rapid field repair to primary bond joints qualified to BMS specifications.

Scotch-Weld™ AF Series
3M™ Structural Adhesive Films deliver the controlled bondline thickness, uniform adhesive distribution, and process repeatability that primary structural assemblies demand. Used extensively in commercial and military aircraft for honeycomb panel closeout, composite skin bonding, and co-cure applications — where paste adhesives cannot provide the consistency that safety-critical joints require.

3M™ Aerospace Abrasive Systems
3M™ aerospace abrasive systems cover every surface preparation operation in production and MRO — from initial paint stripping and composite edge trimming to pre-bond surface preparation and final finish polishing. Precision-shaped grain technology and purpose-built constructions deliver consistent cut rates, longer service life, and lower cost per part versus conventional abrasives.
Key Points
3M™ Aerospace Process & Specialty Tapes
3M™ aerospace process tapes cover the full range of manufacturing and MRO taping requirements — from autoclave-rated polyimide and PTFE process tapes that survive 350°F cure cycles, to FST-rated sealing tapes for interior structures and foil tapes for EMI shielding and lightning strike protection. Clean, residue-free removal is engineered into every construction.
Key Points
3M™ Adhesion Promoters & Primers
Adhesion promoters and corrosion-inhibiting primers are the first — and often most critical — step in any structural bond joint. 3M™ AP86A and the EW-5000 series are called out by Boeing BMS, Airbus AIMS, and military specifications as the required surface treatment before applying structural adhesives and film adhesives to aluminum, titanium, and composite structures. They significantly increase long-term bond durability and environmental resistance.
