Our primary composite materials focus is woven reinforcements, prepregs, adhesives, and consumables — but customers regularly need core to complete a sandwich structure. Why Honeycomb Sandwich Construction?
A sandwich panel with honeycomb core achieves the strength and stiffness of solid metal at a fraction of the weight — critical for every aircraft component.
A sandwich panel with a thin core is up to 37× stiffer in bending than a solid plate of the same weight. The core separates the face sheets and acts as a structural I-beam web.
Honeycomb sandwich panels provide the smooth, rigid aerodynamic surfaces required for control surfaces, fairings, floors, and interior panels.
Beyond structure: honeycomb provides sound attenuation (Acousti-Core®), radar transparency (radomes), energy absorption, and thermal insulation in a single component.
Honeycomb Cell Configurations Available
Standard cell shape for maximum strength efficiency. Equal mechanical properties in both ribbon and transverse directions. The most widely specified configuration for flat structural panels.
Hexagonal cells over-expanded to a rectangular shape. Allows the core to curve easily in one direction — well suited for cylindrical and singly-curved sandwich panels.
Specialized cell geometry that conforms to tight radii and compound curves without machining or splice joints. Available in both aluminum and non-metallic core materials.
Every order flows through our AS9120-certified quality system with full mill traceability. Certificates of Conformance and Certificates of Analysis available on request to support your program documentation.
